In January Richard and I hosted the 6th annual Esther Drew Memorial Scrabble Tournament. It was a fun day as we ate, visited and played 3 games of scrabble, with 4 tables playing similtaniously. Each game is played for 30 minutes, then we add up our scores and put them on a scorecard and switch tables. There is a handicap which helps the younger players who may not be quite as experienced at scrabble.
Aren't we a lovely bunch?? There were 17 in attendance....cousin Louann was here all the way from Alaska!
I made this for grandma back in the 70's....it was my very first embroidery. I loved it because it really reminded me of grandma....I found it a few days before the party. This is grandma's cookie jar...I have posession of it. I may have blogged it a few years ago, but here it is again. It is lined with wax paper...I filled it with snickerdoodles....the family favorite we used to make when we would stay over with her and grandpa.
Aren't these beautiful?? Tom and Carol brought them for me....wasn't that nice?
After all the scores are tallied, fun little prizes are given...this year cousin Tom won...he is a VERY GOOD Scrabble player. I gave these minature cereal boxes with a little poem about Grandma out to everyone who came. Thanks for coming everyone....see you next year!!
SIDE NOTE: I have more pictures but for the life of me I can't find how to download them from the program they are in. If I figure it out I'll post them:)

THANK YOU!!!! I've been waiting and waiting for this post. :) Aunt Susie and Aunt Adele are looking good. I recognize most of the cousins, but I wish you'd put identification under the picture so I would know who was how on the ones I'm not sure of. Also, who wrote the poem? It's great! :)Thank you again for the pictures and the post. I love it all. :)
Sounds like lots of fun! :) Scrabble is such a fun game to play, and gets your brain thinking about all kinds of words. I love it! :) I love the poem too, it's great!
